Celebrate National CSA Day
Interested in supporting farms in your community? Consider signing up for a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) share. By signing up for a CSA share, you agree to support the costs of running the farm for a share of the harvest. A typical share consists of a box or bag of vegetables. Farms may also offer fruit, meat and flower shares. In most CSAs, members pay in advance for the whole season which creates a shared risk. Members agree to share the risk of growing the crops before they're harvested.
Farmers manage crops to limit risks including insect, disease and wildlife damage, but there are no guarantees due to the unforeseen impacts of Mother Nature. CSA provides farmers with the opportunity to earn a living off of the land and connect to the community that supports them.
